Salary - £19,000


The role of the Care Monitoring Officer is crucial to ensuring the smooth running of the branch. The main purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the highest quality care support services by carrying out a range of functions in the field, including the assessment and review of individual services and the practical supervision, instruction and support of care workers.

The role also requires you to spend the majority of your working time in the community carrying out primary functions, but their role will typically also entail a certain amount of office-based administrative work to monitor and reconcile all care call data on a daily basis, using our in-house IT monitoring systems.  Due to the nature of the role, you will need to drive and have access to your own car.

All duties must be carried out to encompass the Scottish Social Services Council; Codes of Practice and Care Inspectorate (CI) Guidelines. It is paramount that any function of the post is carried out in a manner that offers our clients/your colleagues’ choice, dignity and privacy and is respectful of individuality.

You will be required to:

  • Carry out initial risk and needs assessments in respect of individual service users, either in the service user’s home or, where required, in other settings such as hospitals or residential/nursing homes;
  • Work in partnership with service users, their family, carers, advocates, healthcare professionals and others to ensure the seamless delivery of holistic packages of individual care support;
  • Work with care coordinators to support the planning of realistic, effective care worker rotas, with due regard for the particular needs of the individual and the particular skills and attributes of the worker;
  • Carry out regular reviews of individual services, including repeated and renewed needs and risk assessments;
  • Participate as required in multi-disciplinary review of service users’ needs.
  • Shadow new care workers in the field to ensure their competence;
  • Carry out the on-site observation and evaluation of care worker practice as part of routine supervision, in response to particular performance concerns, or as otherwise directed;
  • Provide ad hoc support and instruction to care workers in the field, including in an emergency.
  • Promote a safe working environment and safe systems of work in respect of care workers in the field and those that might be affected by their activities;
  • Understand and follow hazard and accident reporting procedures
  • Be alert to any changes in service users’ condition and circumstances and act appropriately when these change
  • Managing & reconciling all care call data daily using in-house systems.  Recording, reporting and assisting with analysing data.
  • Assisting with the organisation and allocation of home care worker rotas on a daily and weekly basis on the electronic system, ensuring this is communicated to relevant employees, and people we provide a service to.
  • Answering & transferring telephone calls (including taking & recording accurate messages)
  • Attending to visitors and assisting other staff in the organisation with their enquiries.
  • Liaising with other agencies professionally as necessary and in a manner which enhances the company reputation.
  • Responsible for providing and being part of an on-call system on a rota basis.
  • Write letters, reports and minutes using Microsoft Word/Excel/Office packages & process branch mail (incoming and outgoing)
  • Filing confidential documents relating to service users and care workers.
  • Report concerns to line management where appropriate.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be deemed necessary and appropriate by management in accordance to company requirements.

The successful candidate must be flexible to meet the shift patterns of the branch and participate in on call demands as required.
